Live Periscope Adventures

I have been putting a lot of focus into my youtube page recently.  One new experiment I have been trying is to film live explorations of abandoned locations and broadcast them in real time on the periscope app.  This allows me to interact with viewers in real time while I am at a location.  Later, I can upload this adventures to youtube complete with viewer comments.  Please add me on periscope @jcarpetbagger and join me on my live adventures.

Check out the live videos below.

I'd love to have you there!

  1. Neat adventuring! My own personal preference is just the explorers comments as they walk around. I find the posted comments distracting and it takes away from what I am thinking when I watch these videos. But that's just my feedback. :)
I really do like your site. Been following your blog for a couple years, give or take. Seeing wonders from the south I wouldn't get to otherwise. I'm in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada and that's a loooong road Thanks for all the fun. Safe journeys!

  2. I've just recently discovered your wonderful yt channel! I am a lifelong, born-and-bred Southerner (except for 10 months in exile in Chicago). I love the respect with which you treat your subject! It's pretty rare. It's a shame that unique roadside attractions are becoming extinct. I've been to many of the places you've done videos. If you ever need some 1960s era info on attractions in Gatlinburg, Chattanooga, Cherokee (where my grandparents lived on the reservation), etc. I'd be glad to oblige. I l so have a large collection of vintage postcards and brochures you might be interested in. (I might also mention I think your daughter is so cute! More videos with Anna! She obviously enjoys this stuff as much as you do.)

    1. Thank you so much! I am fascinated by the roadside era and all those places you mentioned. Any info or stories would be greatly appreciate
