The Long Lost Sanders Cafe in Asheville, NC

A lot of people know about the original Sanders Cafe in Corbin, KY, the original KFC run by Colonel Harland Sanders.  What a lot of people don't realize is that the Colonel operated a second location in Asheville, NC.  In the following video the Carpetbagger visits both locations.

  1. I don't know Jacob..... That's TWO videos in a row now with a Kentucky/North Carolina connection. I am not sure if I am comfortable with this.
Seriously, this is an interesting video. I have the same old postcard, and I have always been curious about the Asheville site. Now I know!

  2. Kudos on the video, particularly the references to the Asheville Sanders Cafe and doubly especially to the Dixie Highway references. A lot of people in this area are aware of the Harlan Sanders connection, but probably even more of them drive by every day without a clue. You may be aware of this already, but right across the highway from the repurposed Sanders Cafe are two really cool old motor courts that date back to 1930 or so - The Pines Cottages and the Log Cabin Motor Court. Both places are still open for business and are wonderful places for a roadie to spend the night. If you haven't done so already, either one would be well worth the trip.
