Wax Chambers of Horror

Wax Museums are a huge passion on mine.  To me, nothing is more enjoyable then taking in a good wax museum.

As Halloween is coming up I thought we would take a look at a feature of many Wax Museums: The Chamber of Horrors.  These Chambers will hold wax exhibits that may be too extreme for some audiences.  They are usually placed in an area where children and pregnant women can skip over them.

The Hollywood Wax Museum in Pigeon Forge, TN features a Chamber of Horrors featuring both classic movie monsters....

As well as more modern slasher villains.....

Of course there are some instances where the wax makers get a little lazy and throw Halloween costumes on old figures to fill out their house of horrors.....A quick peak revealed this Michael Meyers to be a a re-purposed Colin Ferrell....

And for some reason, the Scream Killer has boobs.....

However, they also have a pretty slick Crypt Keeper.....

And this "Reagan" from The Exorcist is downright horrifying....

They even throw in a few that the younger kids might recognize.....

Potter's Wax Museum in St. Augustine Florida doesn't have a dedicated Chamber or Horrors per say, probably because they didn't have room, but they have a section of scary characters such as the ever popular Freddy Krueger......

And Michael Jackson.....

The Alien from Alien......

They have the classic Frankenstein........

As well as the Munster version......

However, I believe the best Chamber of Horrors has to be at my personal favorite Wax Museum:  Musee Conti in New Orleans.  The Chamber has some amazing scenes from the classic Universal Monster movies.....

They even have some more obscure scenes from literature.....

Of course, attempts at bringing modern monsters into the fold are a bit less inspired.

I must note that Mr. Krueger appears to be the most popular monster in Wax Museums.....

Happy Halloween everyone....
