Turbo Trip Through the Disputed Zone of the South

After Thanksgiving with my family I am planning on embarking on a massive Roadtrip.

The goals of the roadtrip are such:
  1. See the parts of the South I have never been to.
  2. To investigate the disputed states of Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas and to see if they are or are not part of the South.
  3. To see Route 66 for the first time (If only a small portion).
  4. To see as many cool things as I possible can.
  5. Always be on the lookout for the holy trinity:  Fiberglass statues, Wax Figures, and taxidermy.
Here is a rough outline of what my Route will be.

Of course things could easily go off course due to weather, unexpected closures, ADD, wanderlust, or getting lost.

I should probably mention that I will be attempting to complete this trip in only six days, meaning I will constantly be on the move and will never be in one city for more then a day.

If anyone has any suggestions or ideas, please let me know.  I may be trying to post videos from the road if I can find wifi.

  1. Jacob! This looks like a FUN trip! You will be hitting several of my favorite areas...... Near St. Louis is Collinsville IL. This is a great, and over looked area. Cahokia Mounds, and the largest ketchup bottle are there.... In Birmingham I am sure you will make it to the Vulcan Statue. It looks like you are planning a stop in Metropolis IL, and the Land Between the Lakes area of KY. I love both. You won't be too far from Herrin IL- an odd little town with some strange history. Oh, and it looks like Clarksdale might be on the agenda too! I am jealous of your travel plans- and I look forward to your reports!!!

    1. It was an awesome trip. Saw the amazing Ketchup water tower. My last stop, was under a mostly full moon on top of Vulcan. Perfect trip.

  2. woah awesome! good luck! I can't wait to see what you get up to! stop at the city museum in st. louis if you can! it is amazing and i bet your kids would love it! and ride to the top of the arch. you got up in little pods and it is strange and pretty fun. In atlanta the center for puppetry arts is my favorite thing we've done there! it is kind of creepy and all kinds of fun! I've never been through arkansas and oklahoma before!

    1. also if you go near it, i think you will, you have to go the cabbage patch general hospital in georgia! apparently a dr. pulls a cabbage patch doll out of a big head of cabbage. i've been dying to go but we never get close to it!

    2. I did the arch, which is freakin crazy! I also went to the City Museum, which was amazing and strange. I wish my daughter could have been there, she would have loved it.

As for the Cabbage Patch Hospital, that is one of my all time favorite stops. Check it out.

  3. Christmas has come and New Year is coming. One of the things I will do next year is to follow your new posts. It's because they provide what I need. Your articles are informative and great. Stay healthy and write more posts. Thanks
